Can We Really Have it All?
The seeds we plant in life become the harvest of our wants and needs. Our seeds will always reflect our actions, words, reactions, even our thoughts. I mean this isn't limited to the "how we treat others," concept but how we treat ourselves as well.. So - we know that God will undeniably supply all of our needs (Philippians 4:19). We also know he will fulfill our desires (Psalm 37:4). When our needs and desires clash, what becomes of this collide?
I believe the answer can be found in self reflection. Like ... when I think about the collides that happen in my life I'm like, "okay, what now...?!" But what I also understand is that what I do to others I do to myself. What's this have to do with having it all? Well everything... Think about it - whatever you do mentally, physically, emotionally, and/or spiritually to others we do to ourselves. Why? We can only give what we have. What we give out is the "leftovers," of our wants and needs.
If I'm hungry I need food. If I'm thirsty I need water. If I'm lonely I want love. If we're giving away leftovers to ourselves and others the question then becomes - do I really WANT it all? Life isn't about the can's and cannot's. I don't care what you think you know, because ALL things, people, places and whatever(s) else are possible in Christ.
Need can be defined as a requirement, an essential or obligation. Whereas a want is a desire or wish. Often times we minimize our life by placing our needs as simply living essentials, i.e., food, water, clothes, money. Then we leave our wants as our daydreams, our dream jobs, health, families, vacations, relationships and for what? Can you really look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that your desire or wish to live a healthy life is laughable? How well are you sleeping at night telling yourself that it's okay to downplay having lifelong relationships with folk?
This is the harvest. When God says He will, HE WILL. Period. The other day I was at the movies and seen the preview for the new Bruce Lee biopic that'll be releasing this year. In the movie a man told Bruce that he had "surpassed the limits," and his response was, "what limits?" AH! Such a fffiirree response in his mindset and way of life. As we grow our desires morph with our needs and sometimes our needs compliment our desires. Don't feel guilty of either, you owe it to yourself, I mean God said He WILL.
May He grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans (Psalm 20:4).
with love always,
